JUST IN: President Tinubu Appoints Shamsudeen Usman, Datti Ahmed, Eight Others to MOFI Board

 

 

Abuja, November 24, 2023 – President Bola Tinubu has greenlit the appointment of 10 distinguished Nigerians to join the board of directors at the Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI). This move aims to enhance the performance assessment of both commercial and non-commercial government-owned enterprises, with a strong focus on achieving optimal returns on investments entrusted by the Nigerian people.

Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed the appointments in a statement issued on Friday. The newly appointed members include Shamsudeen Usman as the Board Chairman, Armstrong Ume Takang as the CEO/Managing Director, Tajudeen Datti Ahmed as the Executive Director of Portfolio Management, Femi Ogunseinde as the Executive Director of Investment Management, and Oluwakemi Owonubi as the Executive Director of Risk.

Additional members of the board comprise Fatima Nana Mede, Ike Chioke, Chantelle Abdul, Alheri Nyako, and Bolaji Rafiu Elelu, serving as Non-Executive Directors.

Ngelale emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to achieving the highest level of results-driven performance from the MOFI Board and Management team. This strategic move aligns with the Renewed Hope agenda, actively promoting and attracting investments across various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

In tandem with these appointments, President Tinubu has also approved the inclusion of two private sector representatives on the board of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for a four-year term. Ngelale conveyed the President’s well wishes to the appointees, emphasizing the expectation that their perspectives will contribute significantly to the ongoing reforms within the NCS.

This development underscores President Tinubu’s dedication to fostering a robust economic landscape, driven by expertise, efficiency, and strategic reforms within key government institutions.
