JUST IN: NNPC Spokesperson Resigns, Gives Reasons
Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has officially stepped down from his role.
In a statement released on Saturday, Soneye confirmed his resignation, citing the need to spend more time with his family and attend to personal matters requiring his closer attention.
“It has been a profound honour to serve both the company and our country,” he said. “This decision will allow me to devote more time to my family and attend to personal responsibilities that now require my closer presence.”
Soneye was appointed spokesperson of NNPCL in August 2021 and has served in the position for nearly two years. During his tenure, he played a key role in shaping the company’s communications strategy and advancing its public image.
In a farewell message to colleagues, he expressed gratitude for the support he received, describing his time at NNPCL as a period of meaningful contribution and collaboration.
“I remain a steadfast supporter and ambassador of NNPC Ltd wherever I go,” he added, urging the media to continue offering balanced and constructive coverage of the company’s work.
As of the time of this report, NNPCL has not announced a replacement for the outgoing spokesperson.
