JUST IN: Nigeria’s Power Grid Collapses Again, Leaving Cities in Darkness

Nigeria’s national power grid has collapsed once more, cutting electricity supply to multiple cities.

Data from the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) showed a sharp drop in power generation, falling from 2,660.77 megawatts at around 2 p.m. to just 139.92 MW by 3 p.m. During this period, the Shiroro Hydro Power Plant and Delta Gas Plant were among the facilities contributing to the grid.

The outage comes just a day after the federal government announced that full electricity generation had been restored following vandalism of the Lagos-Escravos gas pipeline, a key supply source for several power plants.
