JUST IN: Nigerian Government Suspends Dana Air Operations Over Safety Concerns
The Nigerian government has suspended the operations of Dana Air, one of the country’s domestic carriers, due to safety concerns. The suspension was announced by the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, following an incident at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on Tuesday.
The decision to halt Dana Air’s commercial operations came after one of the airline’s aircraft skidded off the runway at Murtala Muhammed International Airport. A photograph captured by SaharaReporters showed the aircraft off the runway, but all passengers were safely evacuated, and no casualties were reported.
The incident caused a stir among passengers and raised questions about Dana Air’s safety protocols and the fitness of its aircraft for commercial flights within Nigeria. The Minister of Aviation’s directive aims to ensure the safety of passengers and to prevent future incidents.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident and assess Dana Air’s compliance with safety standards. The outcome of this investigation will determine the steps needed to restore the airline’s operations.
