JUST IN: Nigerian Doctors Set Date for Nationwide Warning Strike
The National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced a five-day nationwide warning strike, set to begin on Friday, September 12, 2025. The strike will run until Tuesday, September 16, 2025, and is aimed at pushing the government to address long-standing grievances.
The decision was taken during an online National Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday, September 10, and concluded in the early hours of Thursday, September 11. In a statement signed by the General Secretary of the Association of Resident Doctors, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Agbor Affiong, NARD directed all its chapters to notify their respective hospital managements and remain steadfast in pressing home their demands.
According to NARD President, Osundara Zenith, the strike will shut down public hospitals nationwide as doctors demand improved working conditions, better power supply, recognition of their certificates, and fair remuneration, among other issues.
This fresh action comes while the FCT chapter of the Association of Resident Doctors is already observing a seven-day warning strike that began on Monday.
