JUST IN: Kogi State Governorship Candidate Arrested
In a dramatic turn of events during the #KogiDecides2023 election, Olayinka Braimoh, the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance in Kogi State, was arrested alongside his security detail by security agencies in Kabba, Kabba Bunu Local Government Area. The arrest came after authorities claimed to have discovered campaign materials in Braimoh’s car. The unfolding situation led to concerns and fears among his aides and party officials when they lost contact with him, initially sparking worries of a possible kidnapping.
Speaking from Iyamoye, Ijumu LGA, his media aide, Musa Yakubu, highlighted the challenges faced in establishing communication, expressing alarm over the disappearance and urging security agencies to locate Braimoh.
Later developments revealed that Braimoh had been detained by the police, with his security detail still held in custody. Despite his release, the situation left the governorship candidate unable to cast his vote during the ongoing election.
Efforts to obtain an official response from the police, represented by spokesperson William Aya, were unsuccessful as calls to his phone went unanswered. The arrest and subsequent events have added an unexpected twist to the unfolding election saga in Kogi State.
