JUST IN: Jeju Air Plane Crash at Airport Leaves 179 Presumed Dead

 

 

A Jeju Air flight carrying 181 passengers and crew has crash-landed at Muan International Airport in South Korea, leaving 179 people presumed dead. The tragic incident occurred when the aircraft veered off the runway, collided with a wall, and exploded.

 

Authorities have so far confirmed 96 fatalities, with search and rescue operations ongoing. The ill-fated flight originated from Bangkok and was attempting to land at Muan Airport at the time of the crash.

 

In a statement, Jeju Air expressed deep regret and pledged full cooperation with investigations to determine the cause of the accident. “We deeply apologize to all those affected by the incident at Muan Airport. We will make every effort to resolve the situation. We sincerely regret the distress caused,” the airline stated on its website, which displayed a somber tone in light of the tragedy.

 

The aircraft, which had been in operation for 15 years without any prior incidents, is now at the center of a probe by South Korean authorities. “We are currently working to determine the exact cause and details of the situation,” a Jeju Air official said.

 

Jeju Air’s CEO announced that supporting the families of the victims is now the company’s top priority.
