(JUST IN) Imo Governorship Poll: Hope Uzodimma Sweeps All 27 LGAs, Secures Reelection

In a resounding victory, Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged triumphant in all 27 local government areas of Imo State, as announced in the November 11, 2023 governorship election.

The collation of results commenced at 02:30 am on Sunday at the State Collation Centre in Owerri, headed by Prof Abayomi Fashina, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, acting as the state Returning Officer for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Out of the 18 parties fielding candidates, the main contenders included Uzodimma from the APC, Samuel Anyanwu representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Achonu Nneji of the Labour Party, and Jack Ogunewe from the Action Alliance. However, Uzodimma’s APC claimed victory across all announced local government results, showcasing a dominant performance.

According to INEC, the registered voters numbered 2,419,922 with 2,318,919 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected for the election.

At the conclusion of the collation at 08:30 am on Sunday, Prof Fashina announced a one-hour break before reconvening for the official declaration of the winner.

Other ongoing gubernatorial elections held in Kogi and Bayelsa on the same day are awaiting result collation, scheduled for Sunday morning.

The detailed breakdown of the local government results in Imo State indicates Uzodimma’s consistent and comprehensive lead across all areas, reinforcing his stronghold throughout the state.
