JUST IN: IGP Withdraws Invitation to Emir Sanusi
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has withdrawn the invitation earlier extended to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi. The move follows the intervention of key stakeholders across the country who appealed for restraint.
Instead of summoning the monarch to Abuja, the IGP has directed the Kano State Police Command to obtain Sanusi’s statement locally in connection with the matter under investigation.
The directive was announced by the police spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who emphasized that the decision reflects the force’s commitment to avoiding any action that could be viewed as politically motivated or subject to misinterpretation.
