JUST IN: Gunmen Storm UNTH Enugu, Abduct Deputy Director of Nursing Services, Security Guard

In a shocking incident that happened at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) in Enugu State, Southeast Nigeria, suspected gunmen targeted and abducted the Deputy Director of Nursing Services along with a security guard on Tuesday morning.

The brazen attack occurred at approximately 7:30 AM within the University hospital premises situated at Ituku Ozalla, along the Enugu – Port Harcourt expressway. The abducted senior Nurse Officer, also serving as the Theatre manager, was en route to prepare the Theatre for surgeries when armed kidnappers intercepted and forcibly took her away.

A video circulating online revealed damage to the victim’s vehicle, indicating possible gunfire during the abduction.

Boniface Uchelue, the Public Relations Officer of the medical institution, confirmed the incident during a telephone conversation with AIT. He reported that security authorities had been alerted and were actively pursuing the perpetrators.

“She was coming to work on time, around 7:30, because there was a case in the theatre, and she’s the theatre manager. So, she was coming in the morning to set up the theatre for the surgery and she was accosted by armed kidnappers who overpowered her, and whisked her away.”

Uchelue reassured the public that law enforcement agencies, including the Commissioner of Police, the State Governor, DSS, and Forest guards, were actively engaged in efforts to locate and apprehend the kidnappers.

As of the time of this report, no official statement had been released by the Police in Enugu regarding the incident.
