JUST IN: Godwin Emefiele Demands N25 Billion in Damages from Senate President Akpabio for Alleged Defamatory Remark
Godwin Emefiele, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has formally requested N25 billion in damages from Senate President Godswill Akpabio, citing an alleged defamatory remark made by the latter.
Akpabio, on Sunday, asserted that the accusations against Emefiele were numerous, leaving the federal government uncertain about which charges to pursue. The senate president further attributed the economic challenges in the country to the policies implemented by the ex-CBN governor.
In a letter dated February 19, sited by SK Blog on Wednesday, Matthew Burkaa, Emefiele’s legal representative, warned that unless Akpabio complies with the demand for damages and issues an apology, the former CBN governor would pursue “appropriate redress.”
