JUST IN: Gates Locked as Governor Fubara Arrives Rivers Assembly Complex
Governor Siminalayi Fubara was met with an unexpected obstruction at the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex on Wednesday as the entrance gate was locked upon his arrival. Eyewitnesses reported that security personnel stationed at the complex shut the gates as the governor’s convoy approached, preventing him from accessing the premises.
Security officials claimed the governor’s visit was not officially communicated to the Assembly, prompting their action. However, Governor Fubara refuted the claim, stating that he had sent a letter to Speaker Martins Amaewhule to inform him of the visit and had also attempted to reach the Speaker by phone since Tuesday.
Tensions remain high around the Assembly, and developments are still unfolding.
