Ghali Umar Na’Abba, the distinguished former speaker of the House of Representatives, has passed away at the age of 65. The news was revealed by an aide to the deceased, Mr Ahmed Tijjani Lawal, in a telephone interview on Wednesday in Kano.

According to Lawal, the 8th speaker breathed his last in the early hours of Wednesday at the National Hospital, Abuja. Mr Na’Abba had emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate in the April 1999 National Assembly election in Kano Municipal Federal Constituency of Kano state.

Survived by a wife, 10 children, and three grandchildren, Na’Abba’s passing leaves behind a legacy of political prowess and public service. Lawal added, “We are currently making arrangements to transport the corpse to Kano for burial today.’’
