JUST IN: EFCC Arrests E-Money Over Alleged Naira Abuse
Popular Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, widely known as E-Money, was arrested on Monday night by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for alleged abuse of the Nigerian currency and defacing foreign currencies. The arrest took place at his residence in the Omole area of Lagos. According to sources within the commission, E-Money was specifically accused of spraying United States dollars at a public event, an act considered a violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.
EFCC officials confirmed that preliminary investigations are underway, and the socialite will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the probe. One source disclosed that E-Money is currently being flown to Abuja for further questioning by investigators. The EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, declined to comment when contacted.
