JUST IN: Court Grants N300 Million Bail to Former Taraba Governor Darius Ishaku in N27 Billion Fraud Case

The Federal High Court of the Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama has granted bail to former Taraba Governor Darius Ishaku and ex-Permanent Secretary Bello Yero, both facing serious fraud charges. The court set bail at N150 million for each defendant.

Justice Sylvanus Oriji issued the ruling on Thursday, stipulating that both Ishaku and Yero must secure two sureties. One of the sureties must be a responsible citizen with a position as a director in the Federal Civil Service, while the other must reside in the FCT.

As part of the bail conditions, the court also prohibited the ex-Governor and his co-defendant from traveling abroad without prior permission from the court.

Upon leaving the courtroom, Ishaku appeared frail and elderly, relying on a walking stick for support, while Yero accompanied him, both under the watch of officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The two men were arraigned on September 30 on a 15-count charge, including criminal breach of trust, conspiracy, and the alleged misappropriation of N27 billion in public funds.
