JUST IN: BRT Driver Sentenced to Death for Murder of Bamise
A Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square annex has sentenced Andrew Nice Ominikoron, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver, to death by hanging for the murder of 22-year-old Ayanwola Oluwabamise. Justice Sherifat Sonaike delivered the judgment on Friday after finding Ominikoron guilty of multiple charges, including the murder of Bamise and the sexual assault of Dr. Anosike Victoria.
Ominikoron was tried on a five-count charge, which included murder, conspiracy, and rape. The charges stemmed from the circumstances surrounding Bamise’s death, as well as the rape of Maryland Ojiezelu and the assault of Dr. Anosike. Despite pleading not guilty to all charges, the court found him culpable after a thorough examination of the evidence presented.
