Updated: Presidential Election Tribunal Dismisses Application For Live Broadcast
The Presidential Election Petition Court has dismissed the application by the Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to allow for live telecast of the court proceedings.
Ruling on the application made by the PDP and Atiku Abubakar the court held that live broadcast or streaming of the proceedings of the court is not provided for in the rules, policy, or procedure of the court
The court noted that no such policy is in place as yet, and as such it cannot adopt a procedure not provided by the administrative process of the court
Justice Haruna Tsamani who prepared the lead ruling held “Since there is no such policy, we cannot create one or do anything that will affect the dignity of the proceedings”
The four other members unanimously agreed with the ruling.
