JUST IN: Boko Haram Strikes Again, Kills 12, Abducts 1 in Borno Communities
Suspected Boko Haram terrorists, disguised in military uniform, targeted Gatamarwa and Tsiha communities in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State. The assailants, heavily armed with AK-47 rifles, arrived on motorcycles and in Hilux vans, attacking mourners returning from New Year celebrations in Gatamarwa.
The attack resulted in the loss of 12 lives, with an additional two individuals sustaining injuries. The terrorists then moved to Tsiha, near Shikarkir, where they killed three people and abducted a young lady. Furthermore, they set houses ablaze after looting food supplies.
This assault follows a similar incident in Chibok just two weeks ago when two individuals were killed, and houses were set on fire. Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso Kenneth, confirmed the recent attack, stating that 12 corpses were recovered, and an investigation is underway to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Security forces have been on high alert due to the escalating attacks in Borno State. The insurgents recently targeted electricity infrastructure, disrupting power supplies in Borno and Yobe after destroying six 33KVA towers connecting the two states. The situation remains tense as authorities work to address the growing threat posed by Boko Haram.
