JUST IN: Bandits Kill Woman, Abduct Three in Late-Night Raid on Kano Village
Bandits launched a late-night assault on Yankamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State, killing a woman and taking three residents captive. The attack happened around 11 p.m. on Saturday as the community slept.
Residents said the assailants rode into the area on motorcycles, abandoned them on the outskirts, and advanced on foot to avoid drawing attention. According to villagers, the gunmen shot an elderly woman who pleaded with them not to take her son. They abducted the son after killing her.
The attackers then forced their way into another home and seized two women, one of whom is related to the ward councillor. Police authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
Yankamaye, situated about five kilometers from Rimaye town in Katsina State, has suffered repeated raids following a “peace accord” between bandits and nearby communities in Katsina. Other settlements in the area, including Sundu and Buresawa, are experiencing similar violence. Earlier in the week, eight people were kidnapped in a separate nighttime attack on Biresawa village.
