JUST-IN: Bandits in Hijab Abduct 25 in Katsina
In a shocking attack on Saturday night, a group of armed bandits, some dressed in hijabs, stormed the Runka community in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State, abducting at least 25 villagers, mostly women and children.
Eyewitnesses report that the assailants moved methodically from house to house, breaking in and dragging residents into the nearby forest. One individual was injured while attempting to escape and is currently hospitalized.
Local sources believe the attack was facilitated by informants within the community. Sani Abdullahi, Chairman of Safana LGA, confirmed the incident and announced that a rescue operation is underway.
As of now, the Katsina State Police Command has not issued an official statement. However, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Safana has deployed a team to aid in the rescue efforts.
