JUST IN: Atiku Officially Appeals Tribunal Judgement
Abubakar Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has taken his fight for the presidency to the highest court in the land. Atiku has officially lodged an appeal with the Supreme Court, fervently seeking the annulment of the Presidential Election Petitions Court’s verdict, which had confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 elections.
Atiku’s appeal, encompassing a staggering 35 grounds, vehemently asserts that the tribunal made grave errors and miscarriages of justice in its assessment of his petition challenging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s proclamation of Tinubu as President.
The notice of appeal fervently implores the apex court to discard the entire body of findings and conclusions reached by the Tribunal, contending that they fail to accurately portray the essence of his petition’s claims.
Furthermore, Atiku firmly asserts that the tribunal committed a legal blunder by failing to nullify the presidential election held on February 25, 2023, citing non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2022 as grounds for his argument. He insists that INEC conducted the election under the shadow of grave and gross misrepresentation, a departure from the principles enshrined in the Electoral Act 2022, all within the context of the doctrine of legitimate expectation.
