JUST IN: APC Wins Atani Polling Unit Despite Alleged Massive Vote-Buying by APGA Agents — #AnambraDecides
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has defeated the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at Polling Unit 009, Ward 2, Atani, in the ongoing Anambra governorship election, despite widespread claims of cash inducements by APGA agents.
An APC official, identified as Honourable Chukwu, alleged that APGA distributed N10,000 per voter, while APC gave N6,000. The claim could not be independently verified, but observers at the polling unit reported heightened voter attention around party representatives during the exercise.
At the end of counting, APC secured 34 votes, APGA received 24, and the Young Progressives Party (YPP) got 19. Thirteen other parties recorded no votes.
Atani, in Ogbaru Local Government Area, has long been a battleground between APC and APGA, both of which maintain strong grassroots structures in the area. Election observers say voting patterns in Ogbaru tend to mirror local loyalties and perceptions of candidate performance rather than external endorsements.
The election process continued across other wards in Atani and nearby communities, with more results expected as collation proceeds.
