JUST-IN: ACF Chairman Suspended Over 2027 Presidency Remarks
The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has suspended its National Executive Council (NEC) chairman, Mamman Mike Osuman, SAN, following comments he made about the 2027 presidential elections. This decision comes just 24 hours after Osuman publicly criticized the policies of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and declared the group’s preference for a northern presidential candidate in the next election.
The suspension was announced after an ACF NEC meeting held on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the Forum’s headquarters in Kaduna. A statement issued by Alhaji Bashir Muhammad Dalhatu, chairman of the ACF Board of Trustees, and Alhaji Murtala Aliyu, the Forum’s Secretary General, clarified the reasons behind the decision.
According to the statement, Osuman’s remarks were made without prior consultation or agreement from other ACF leaders and members, making them his personal views rather than the official position of the Forum. The leadership firmly rejected his statements, emphasizing that such unilateral comments do not reflect the collective stance of the ACF.
As a result, the ACF leadership has placed Osuman on immediate suspension and has established a committee to investigate the matter further.
