Joint Task Force Rescues Six Abducted Gusau Varsity Female Students
In a daring operation, operatives of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadarin-Daji, have successfully rescued six female students from the Federal University, Gusau, Zamfara, who were abducted in the early hours of Friday. The rescue operation comes in response to the shocking abduction of 24 female students from their rented hostels at Sabon-Gida, located just a few meters away from the university.
Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, the Force Information Officer for Operation Hadarin-Daji, confirmed this dramatic rescue during a telephone interview with newsmen in Gusau.
According to Captain Yahaya, the courageous troops relentlessly pursued the abductors, who had taken the students, predominantly female, deep into the forest. The pursuit led to a heated exchange of gunfire between the troops and the abductors, with the Nigerian Air Force’s air component providing crucial support. In the end, the troops managed to secure the release of six students.
What’s more, Captain Yahaya disclosed that a number of bandits met their fate during the rescue effort, emphasizing that the operation was still ongoing.
In his statement, Captain Yahaya stated, “The troops also recovered one AK-47, a magazine, four motorcycles, and one communication gadget from the terrorists,” showcasing the successful outcome of their mission.
Despite these dramatic developments, efforts to reach out to the school authorities for comment on the incident were in vain. Umar Usman, the institution’s spokesperson, did not respond to several calls made in an attempt to gather official statements.
This rescue operation marks a significant step towards ensuring the safety and security of students in the region, shedding light on the continued efforts by security forces to combat criminal activities and protect the citizens of Nigeria. SK Blog will continue to closely monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available.
