Joint Security Patrol Foils Kidnapping Attempt, Arrests Two in Anambra

A joint patrol by Police Operatives from Uli Police Station and Uli Vigilante Group under Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping successfully intercepted armed hoodlums along the Onitsha-Owerri Road in Amorka, Uli, resulting in the arrest of two suspects after an exchange of gunfire.

The operation, which took place on April 19, 2025, led to the recovery of one automatic pump-action firearm and two motorcycles used by the suspects. The arrested individuals, identified as Chigozie Johnson and Umuerima Oguta, aged between 30 and 32, confessed to being part of a criminal gang and admitted they were on a planned operation when they were apprehended.

A follow-up search in the surrounding bush area revealed significant bloodstains, suggesting that other members of the gang may have escaped with gunshot injuries. In response, the Anambra State Police Command is urging all hospitals and medical practitioners—both public and private—to report any patients presenting with gunshot wounds or injuries of suspicious origin to the nearest police station.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining security across the state through continuous patrols and strategic operations to dismantle criminal networks and ensure the safety of all residents.
