Japa: Germany Introduces ‘Opportunity Card’ to Attract Skilled Workers
Germany has launched the Opportunity Card (OC), a new point-based immigration pathway, aimed at attracting skilled workers from non-EU countries. Known as the ‘Chancekarte’ in German, this initiative was announced on Saturday.
The OC will allow individuals from outside the European Union to migrate to Germany without requiring a job offer or family sponsorship. This move is part of Germany’s strategy to address its critical shortage of skilled labor.
German Interior Minister Nancy Faeser emphasized the importance of the new visa scheme, stating, “We are ensuring that workers and skilled workers that our economy has urgently needed for years can come to our country.”
