JAMB Warns Public: ‘Any Printed UTME Result Slip Is Fake’

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued a warning to the public about fraudulent result slips for the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). In a statement released by JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board emphasized that no paper format for the 2024 UTME results is currently available, despite false claims circulating on social media.

According to JAMB, the only valid method to check 2024 UTME results is by sending “UTMERESULT” to either 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number that was used for UTME registration. The Board stressed that any printed result slip is fake, and candidates should not seek results from cybercafés or other third-party sources.

Dr. Benjamin clarified that this approach differs from previous years when UTME results were accessible on JAMB’s website. He urged candidates and the public to avoid falling for scams involving printed result slips and reiterated the importance of using the specified method to check UTME results.

The warning follows the Board’s announcement on Monday regarding the release of the 2024 UTME results. During a press briefing, JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed that out of 1,904,109 registered candidates, 1,823,299 sat for the exam, while 80,810 were absent. Furthermore, 64,624 results are under investigation due to various reasons, including procedural issues and suspected examination misconduct.

In light of these developments, JAMB advises the public to remain cautious and avoid being misled by social media claims about UTME results. Candidates are encouraged to use the correct procedure to access their results and report any suspicious activities related to UTME result slips.
