“It’s a generational curse because my father also did it to his sister” — Ondo Pastor who defiled 17-year-old daughter tells Court
A Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State, has ordered the remand of a 42-year-old pastor, Samson Ajayi, at the Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling his 17-year-old daughter over a period of four years.
Ajayi, a father of five, was arrested after his wife reported the abuse to the police in Igoba. The victim’s mother, who had been unaware of the assault in her home, became suspicious when she returned one day to find her bed in disarray. After persistent questioning, the daughter disclosed what had been happening, prompting her mother to alert authorities. Ajayi was later arrested at a prayer mountain.
He was arraigned on two counts of defilement. Prosecutor Supol Martins Olowofeso told the court that Ajayi repeatedly molested his daughter between March 2021 and August 2025 in his residence at Igoba, offences that contravene Sections 3 (a, b, c) and 25 of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law of 2021. The plea of the defendant was not taken.
During the proceedings, Ajayi admitted to the allegations, claiming he was under the influence of what he described as a “generational curse,” alleging that his own father had also abused a family member. His lawyer, Kehinde Osadugba, pleaded for settlement, saying the victim’s mother had forgiven him as he was the family’s breadwinner.
Magistrate Taiwo Lebi dismissed the request, ruling that Ajayi’s confession was sufficient cause for his detention. The prosecutor was directed to duplicate the case file and forward it to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. The matter was adjourned to November 20 for further hearing.
