Islamic Cleric, Followers Apprehended with Human Skull and Body Parts in Ikorodu

In a shocking incident in the Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, a renowned Islamic cleric known as Babalola and four of his followers were apprehended by vigilant residents in possession of a human skull and other body parts. The incident unfolded as the suspects, including the cleric, were surrounded by residents and officers of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, who promptly handed them over to the state police command.

A video that quickly went viral depicted the Islamic cleric, clad in native attire, with blood visible from one of his eyes. The unsettling footage showed him placing a human skull and other human remains into a polythene bag.

Sharing the video on Friday night, user @DejiAdesogan wrote, “Residents of Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, have handed over a popular Islamic cleric and four of his men to the police after they were allegedly caught with a human skull and other parts of a human body.”

Acknowledging the responsible actions of the residents, the command’s public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, retweeted the post on Saturday, commending the community for avoiding vigilante justice. Hundeyin assured the public that justice would be served, stating, “We commend the good people of Ikorodu for doing the right thing and not yielding to jungle justice. We will ensure justice is done.”

According to the residents, the suspects were apprehended on Thursday and subsequently detained by the anti-kidnapping and cultist police unit at Araro Adamo in Ikorodu. The incident has left the community both shocked and relieved, as authorities now investigate the circumstances surrounding the possession of the disturbing items.
