Insurgents Kill Two Soldiers, 9-Year-Old Boy in Night Raid on Borno Military Base
Two soldiers and a nine-year-old boy lost their lives on Thursday night when insurgents launched a coordinated attack on security formations in Banki, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State. The assault, which began around 10:15 pm, targeted the Bula Yobe forward operating base, the 152 Battalion, and the divisional police headquarters.
According to counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, the attackers set fire to three military vehicles during the raid. Troops responded with air support, deploying two A-29 Super Tucano aircraft that carried out multiple strikes on the retreating fighters. Intelligence-led operations confirmed that 32 members of Boko Haram and ISWAP were neutralized in the counteroffensive.
The remains of the two soldiers have been moved to Maiduguri, while the body of the boy, identified as Ismail Abubakar, was returned to his family. Military sources confirmed that reinforcements have been deployed to Banki and surrounding areas to forestall further attacks.
