Influential Pastors’ Plot Against Buhari Unveiled in New Book

A revealing new book written by Femi Adesina, former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, sheds light on how influential pastors actively prayed for Buhari’s failure, starting from the 2015 election. The book details the intense campaigns and hate campaigns orchestrated by prominent religious figures against Buhari and his government throughout his tenure.

Adesina recounts the church mobilization led by former President Goodluck Jonathan before the 2015 election, setting the stage for pastors to vehemently oppose Buhari. The book highlights instances of vicious rhetoric and hostility, including a pastor instructing members to kill any Fulani they encountered near the church.

Even after Buhari’s victory in 2015 and subsequent re-election in 2019, the animosity persisted. The book cites instances of curses, false prophecies, and public declarations against the government by influential pastors. Notably, some pastors, despite their initial opposition, publicly supported other candidates, only to witness Buhari’s triumph.

Adesina, a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Nigeria, shares his own experience of leaving a church due to the pastor’s consistent denigration of Buhari. He emphasizes that some pastors remained true to their calling, like Rev. Chris Okotie and Pastor Williamson Folorunsho Kumuyi.

In a bold statement, Adesina asserts that Christians in the Buhari administration were unjustly demonized and ostracized for working with a Muslim Fulani leader, highlighting the need for religious harmony in Nigeria.

This 488-page exposé is expected to spark controversy and challenges from individuals named within the Buhari government, offering a deep dive into the religious dynamics of the time.
