INEC Declares Soludo Winner of Anambra Governorship Election

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Governor Chukwuma Soludo the winner of the November 8 Anambra State governorship election.

 

The announcement was made on Sunday by the Returning Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, at INEC’s headquarters in Awka.

 

Governor Soludo, representing the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), received 422,664 votes, securing a clear victory. His closest contender, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered 99,445 votes.

 

Other candidates included Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), who received 37,753 votes; Labour Party candidate George Moghalu with 10,576 votes; and John Nwosu of the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC), who polled 8,208 votes.

 

The declaration confirms Soludo’s continuation in office as the governor of Anambra State.
