India Deports Nigerian Student for Visa Overstay, Alleged Drug Network Links
Indian authorities have deported Nigerian citizen Onyeukwu Victor for remaining in the country beyond the validity of his visa and for alleged involvement in drug distribution networks.
According to The Times of India, the Hyderabad police executed the deportation on Wednesday. Victor had entered India on a student visa in 2021 but stayed on after it expired in 2024.
Investigators from the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing reported that Victor was linked to drug suppliers and was suspected of coordinating deliveries to clients in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.
He was detained in the Banjara Hills area, where officers found no narcotics in his possession. However, he was unable to present valid documents or justify his continued stay in the country.
Verification by immigration authorities later confirmed his visa overstay, leading to the deportation order.
