“In Months, You Have Moved from Being ‘Hallelujah Boy’ to Cheerleader of Wolves Trying to Soil the President’s Name” – Dogara Slams Gov Bala for Criticizing President Tinubu
Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has issued a sharp rebuke against Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, for attributing the current economic hardships in Nigeria to the policies of President Bola Tinubu.
Dogara labeled Governor Mohammed as “a crass opportunist,” accusing him of exploiting the situation for personal gain. The ex-Speaker’s remarks were in response to the governor’s recent criticisms of President Tinubu, where the governor reportedly blamed the administration for the country’s economic challenges.
In a statement released over the weekend in Bauchi, Dogara emphasized that true leadership should inspire and guide people toward positive action, rather than seeking self-praise. He urged leaders, regardless of political affiliation, to address the legitimate demands of protesters, particularly those related to hunger and insecurity.
Dogara pointedly criticized Governor Mohammed, stating, “When Gov Bala was in court after rigging himself into office and desperately needed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to save him, he was busy singing his praises to the highest heavens, not even minding the fact that he is the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum.”
He further accused Governor Mohammed of a sudden and hypocritical shift in attitude towards President Tinubu, claiming that the governor has gone from being a staunch supporter to harshly criticizing the President in a short span of time. “In months, Gov Bala Mohammed has transmuted from being a ‘Hallelujah boy’ to the undisputed cheerleader of a pack of wolves who are trying so hard to soil the president beyond redemption,” Dogara said.
Dogara also criticized the governor’s performance in Bauchi State, accusing him of failing to provide functional social amenities and addressing the state’s educational challenges. “Bauchi is one of the states with the highest number of out-of-school children in Nigeria, yet he has built no functional school,” Dogara remarked, citing the dilapidated condition of his alma mater, Bauchi Teachers College, as evidence.
Concluding his statement, Dogara labeled Governor Mohammed as a “coward” who is willing to lie to the public to suit his agenda. He warned that the governor’s behavior is unlikely to change, quoting Maya Angelou: “When someone tells you who they are, believe them.”
As the political tension between the two leaders escalates, Dogara questioned whether Governor Mohammed’s ambitions for 2027 will materialize or serve as an “expiry date” for his political career.
