Imo Police Arrest Notorious Kidnappers, Rescue Victim, Recover Arms
The Imo State Police Command has arrested six suspects involved in kidnapping and armed robbery, bringing relief to residents in the affected areas.
According to a statement from the Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Okoye Henry, the command’s Anti-kidnapping Unit successfully rescued a 26-year-old woman who had been abducted from her residence in Obinze on August 18.
The operation led to the arrest of five suspects: Umaru Usman (40), Tukur Yau (25), Musbau Sabo (18), Abdul Ibrahim (30), and Jubrin Idris (25), who were found hiding in a forest in Avu. The police recovered a pump-action gun, cartridges, daggers, and criminal charms from the suspects, who are believed to be part of a notorious syndicate responsible for terrorizing residents in Obinze, Avu, and surrounding areas.
In a separate operation, the police also apprehended 25-year-old Nwauba Alex, an armed robbery suspect. A locally made pistol and live ammunition were recovered during his arrest.
