Ibas is Bias: Pro-Fubara Women March Against Emergency Rule in Rivers

Hundreds of women under the banner of Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS) staged a prayer march through major streets of Port Harcourt on Wednesday, calling for a reversal of the state of emergency in Rivers State. Dressed in red and holding placards with bold messages, the women chanted slogans including “We want to see our governor,” as they moved through the city.

The demonstration came just two days after rival groups of women held parallel marches—some supporting, others opposing—the state of emergency declared in the state. The women in Wednesday’s march carried signs with messages such as “Declare How Much You Met,” “LGA Administrators Undemocratic,” “We Are Gagged In Our LGAs,” “Ibas, What Is Your Secret Agenda In Rivers State,” and “Sole Administrator Is Bias,” reflecting growing concern over political developments in the state.

Earlier in the week, pro-emergency rule supporters rallied in Port Harcourt, while opponents of the measure gathered at Mbiama Junction in Ahoada-West Local Government Area.
