“I Will Not Be Vice-President to Anybody” – Peter Obi Confirms 2027 Presidential Bid
Peter Obi has confirmed he will contest the 2027 presidential election and ruled out serving as a vice-presidential candidate.
The Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate made this known during an X Spaces discussion on Sunday night. He said his decision to run again is firm and that he is not open to being anyone’s running mate.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, said his years of preparation and experience in leadership were not aimed at occupying a secondary role in government.
“I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be vice president,” he said.
He added that he has the capacity to lead the country, citing his background in business and governance. “I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting president,” Obi said.
He concluded by affirming his intention to be on the ballot in 2027 and appealed to supporters for backing and prayers.
