“I Stole Bike to Recover My Sister’s Money Lost to Betting” – Suspect Confesses
The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a 28-year-old man, Aina Ayotomide, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State.
NSCDC spokesperson, Daniel Aidamenbor, said Ayotomide was apprehended in the Agbogbo area of Akure while attempting to sell a wine-coloured Bajaj motorcycle.
Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly stole the motorcycle from the Nova School area of Ado Ekiti before riding it down to Akure for disposal. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed that he turned to theft after losing ₦130,000 belonging to his sister on a betting platform.
“The owner of the motorcycle, Amire Tope, has since identified the bike after being alerted by the command,” Aidamenbor confirmed.
In a separate case, the NSCDC also paraded 30-year-old Tope Andrew of Olorunsogo, Yaba, Ondo. He was arrested on August 24 for allegedly burgling a house at Adebayo compound, GRA, Ondo town, where solar lights, panels, and iron scraps were stolen. The suspect admitted to the crime and planned to sell the items.
Both suspects remain in custody and will be charged in court once investigations are concluded.
