“I left PDP for APC without praying, now I’ve fasted 31 days to know my next party” — Sen Elisha Abbo

Former Adamawa North senator, Elisha Abbo, says he has completed 31 days of fasting and prayers to seek divine guidance on his next political move.

Abbo, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2020, disclosed the development on Friday in a post via X. He admitted that his earlier defection was based on “tangible reasons” and instincts, without seeking God’s direction.

“In 2020, I left PDP for APC without praying and asking God’s direction on which party to join. I left for tangible reasons and raw instincts and joined APC out of human judgment and to flow with the tide,” he wrote.

The former senator said his current approach is different, explaining that he turned to fasting and prayers before deciding on his next political platform. “This time around, I undertook 31 days of fasting and prayers, seeking direction among other things, I asked God to do for me,” he stated.

Abbo added that he will release an official statement in the coming weeks after final consultations with his supporters. According to him, his political choices will now be guided by the “spirit of God” rather than emotions or instincts.

Abbo was first elected to the Senate in 2019 on the PDP platform before switching to the APC the following year. In 2023, he was re-elected, but the court of appeal later nullified his victory and declared Amos Yohanna of the PDP as the rightful winner of the Adamawa North senatorial election.
