‘I Knew He Would Give Tinubu a Big Middle Finger’ – Kachikwu Blasts INEC Chairman for Recognizing David Mark’s ADC Leadership

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the last general election, Dumebi Kachikwu, has launched a scathing attack on the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, accusing him of deliberately slighting President Bola Tinubu in his final days in office.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, Kachikwu claimed Yakubu gave the president “a big middle finger” by endorsing the David Mark-led leadership of the ADC and publishing their names on the Commission’s portal despite ongoing court cases involving the party.

Kachikwu, who has been at odds with the leadership tussle in the ADC, questioned the timing of INEC’s decision and accused Yakubu of acting out of personal displeasure toward the president. He described the INEC chairman as “one of the worst and biggest mistakes Nigeria has ever made” and insisted that the judiciary would ultimately resolve the party’s internal dispute.

“I wasn’t expecting him to do anything otherwise,” Kachikwu said. “I knew that as he was leaving, he was going to do anything to show his displeasure towards the president. And that’s what he did. He waited just a few weeks before leaving so he could do it, with no remorse and nothing anybody can say to him.”

The ADC candidate lamented that his party had become collateral damage in what he described as political hostilities between powerful figures. “Unfortunately, my party, the party of Nigerians who are trying to rebuild this country, are the victims here. And when two elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers,” he added.
