“I Killed Her and Buried the Body in the Hotel” – Delta Hotel Manager Who Lured Female PoS Operator Confesses

The manager of Century Home Hotel in Owehlogbo, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, has confessed to killing 22-year-old Point-of-Sale operator, Onoriode Bethel, who was reported missing in December 2024.

The suspect, identified as Iboirode, admitted to luring Bethel into the hotel under the pretext of settling a financial misunderstanding. He killed her and secretly buried her body within the hotel premises. This chilling revelation was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, who addressed the media on Tuesday.

Edafe explained that the suspect murdered Bethel after she accused him of using a fake bank alert to fraudulently obtain N10,000 from her. Although she was eventually refunded, the suspect reportedly felt that the incident had damaged his reputation and retaliated with the brutal act.

Police investigations further revealed that after committing the murder, Iboirode used Bethel’s phone to call her father and demand a ransom. He also withdrew money using her PoS machine after coercing her to reveal the password before killing her.

Adding to the disturbing account, the suspect’s wife admitted to having knowledge of the crime. She disclosed that her husband invited Bethel, whom he knew personally, to the hotel one evening around 7 p.m. According to her, he took the young woman into a room and later returned around midnight to inform her that he had killed her.

Bethel’s remains were recovered during the course of the investigation. Her disappearance had initially puzzled the police until March 2025, when Iboirode and other hotel staff were arrested in connection with a separate incident—the murder of a hotel guest, Pastor Sunday Ogofohta.

The Delta State Police Command has assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and that justice will be served.
