I apologize for saying, ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven’ – Pastor Adeboye
In a recent address to his congregation, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church, publicly apologized for earlier statements suggesting that Christians who do not pay tithes may not attain heaven.
The remarks, which sparked significant debate, claimed that tithing was a prerequisite for salvation. In a video that has circulated widely on social media, Adeboye retracted his earlier assertion, calling it a “mistake” and clarified that the Bible does not support such a claim.
During the sermon, he emphasized that the true prerequisites for entering heaven, as stated in the scriptures, focus on living a peaceful and holy life. “I apologize for saying, ‘If you don’t pay tithe, you might not make it to heaven.’ I’m sorry, that’s wrong, and it’s not in the Bible,” he stated. “What the Bible says is, ‘Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see God.’”
