“I Am Humiliated. It’s My Reputation, My Honor” – Woman in Baltasar Engonga Sex Tape Scandal Speaks Out
In a scandal that has rocked Equatorial Guinea’s political and social circles, Cristel Nchama, one of the women allegedly featured in explicit videos with Baltasar Engonga, has filed a formal complaint with the National Gendarmerie in Malabo. Engonga, recently dismissed as Director General of the National Financial Investigation Agency (ANIF), is accused of deceiving multiple women, including Nchama, through secretly recorded intimate videos that went viral online over the weekend.
According to Real Equatorial Guinea, Nchama’s complaint marks the first official legal action taken by any of the women involved. She claims Engonga manipulated her during their four-year relationship, leaving her feeling humiliated and violated after the explicit videos surfaced. “It’s my reputation, my honor. I want to know where these videos came from and why he kept them,” she lamented to authorities.
The tapes were reportedly leaked after Engonga was detained at Malabo’s notorious Black Beach prison on unrelated embezzlement charges. His arrest has further tarnished his reputation and has now sparked controversy, given his familial ties; he is the son of Baltasar Engonga Edjo, the current president of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC).
Nchama stated that, despite previously refusing to be filmed, Engonga had recorded some moments, which he assured would be immediately deleted. The young woman says she now feels betrayed and seeks justice for the damages and emotional trauma caused by the tapes’ release. She urged others involved to come forward, as the Gendarmerie has invited any women similarly affected to file their own complaints.
Court Security Review Underway
Meanwhile, the scandal has led to heightened scrutiny over court security after explicit content featuring Engonga was allegedly filmed in the bathroom of Malabo’s Court Number 1. Equatorial Guinea’s Minister of Justice, Reginaldo Biyogo Mba Ndong, made a surprise inspection at the court, questioning how security lapses allowed such recordings to take place within judicial premises.
Minister Ndong, alongside Vice Minister Riocalo and the Secretary-General, vowed to strengthen security protocols within court facilities, stressing the importance of protecting the integrity of the nation’s judicial spaces.
