Husband Arrested for Allegedly Beating Wife to Death Over Ramadan Meal in Bauchi
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 50-year-old businessman, Alhaji Nuru Isah, for allegedly beating his wife, Wasila Abdullahi, to death following a dispute over food meant for breaking the Ramadan fast.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the incident occurred on the night of March 1, 2025, near Government Girls College in the Fadamam Mada area of Bauchi. Police were alerted at approximately 11:30 PM to a case of alleged culpable homicide involving the suspect and his 24-year-old second wife.
The altercation reportedly stemmed from a disagreement over the handling of food ingredients and fruits for iftar, which escalated into violence. During the dispute, Isah allegedly struck Abdullahi with a cane, causing her to collapse. She was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed her death.
The Bauchi State Police Command has launched a thorough investigation into the case, and the suspect remains in custody. Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad assured the public that justice will be served.
