Hunger Protest: Senate President Akpabio Summons Emergency Session for Wednesday

The Senate has announced an emergency session to address the forthcoming nationwide protest planned for August 1, 2024. This decision, communicated via a brief notice to all senators on Monday morning, calls for a plenary session on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 12 noon.

Date: WEDNESDAY, JULY 31st, 2024

TIME: 12 NOON.

Distinguished Senators are requested to make all necessary arrangements to attend as issues of national importance will be discussed. We regret any inconvenience caused by this interruption of the recess,” the notice added.

The emergency session comes as the Nigerian National Assembly, which includes both the Senate and the House of Representatives, shortens its annual recess.
