How Troops Successfully Rescued Abducted Individuals Including Nabeeha’s Sisters in Daring Abuja Operation

New details have emerged surrounding the daring rescue mission conducted by troops of the Nigerian Army and a joint security team, successfully liberating 12 kidnapped victims in the Zuma 1 area of Bwari Area Council.

The FCT Police Command, in a statement by SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that the operation took place around Kajuru forest in Kaduna State at approximately 11:30 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024.

The victims, initially taken captive during attacks on January 2 and 3 in the Zuma community, included Mansoor Kadriyar and his six daughters. The family, along with others, were kidnapped after a brave attempt by a middle-aged man identified as Alhaji to thwart the bandits, resulting in injuries and a tragic loss.

Subsequently, the bandits demanded ransoms, escalating the situation. One of the kidnapped victims, Nabeeha, tragically lost her life due to delays in meeting the ransom demands.

Counter-terrorism/insurgency expert Zagazola Makama provided insights into the military operation, clarifying that the Nigerian Army’s 197 Special Forces Battalion executed the rescue near Gurara Dam in Kachia LGA on January 20. The troops, responding promptly to intelligence received at 10 pm, located and freed 12 individuals, comprising three adult females, two female children, and seven male children.

Makama emphasized the precision and efficiency of the military intervention, noting that despite encountering an ambush during the return, the soldiers successfully neutralized the threat without casualties.

The rescued abductees were subsequently handed over to the police for further assistance in reuniting them with their families. An army officer expressed frustration at attempts to undermine the military’s role in the operation, emphasizing that the soldiers’ efforts should not be dismissed.

The successful rescue stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian Army and the joint security team, highlighting their commitment to safeguarding citizens from the threats posed by armed bandits.
