“How I Killed and Dismembered Her” – Islamic Cleric Confesses in Kwara Court

An Islamic cleric, Abdulraman Bello, has confessed to murdering and dismembering Yetunde Hasfoh Lawal, a student of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin. Bello made the shocking revelation during his arraignment at a Kwara State Magistrates’ Court, where he appeared alongside four other individuals.

The suspect admitted to knowing the deceased through Facebook but insisted that the others charged with him were not involved in the crime. He pleaded for their release, claiming they were wrongly accused. Meanwhile, the Kwara State Ministry of Justice has taken over the case.

Counsel from the ministry, Issa Zakare, informed the court that legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) confirmed that Bello had a case to answer. He announced that the defendant would face proper arraignment at the state High Court.

Dr. Folorunso Ahmad Hussein, representing the victim’s family, did not oppose the ministry’s takeover but stressed the need for justice for the slain student and her loved ones.

Presiding Magistrate Sanusi Muhammad told Bello to present his request for the release of the co-defendants at the High Court. He then ordered Bello’s remand at Oke Kura Correctional Centre in Ilorin and adjourned the case to March 20 for further proceedings.

Speaking to reporters after the hearing, Hussein confirmed that the Ministry of Justice had assigned a principal counsel to take over the case. He added that the High Court had received the charges, and all involved parties had been duly served.
