How God Used My Dreadlocks to Save a Life – Pastor Jimmy Odukoya

In a recent sermon that has stirred online conversations, Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the senior pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, shared a remarkable testimony of how God used his dreadlocks to save a life. The young pastor, who succeeded his late father Taiwo Odukoya, revealed that he received divine guidance regarding his appearance before taking on the pastoral role, with God instructing him not to cut his hair.

Jimmy recounted how his sister had expressed concerns about his appearance but ultimately supported his decision after she prayed and received the same message from God. “Before I came back, one of the things I asked the Lord was whether or not I should cut my hair. And the Lord told me not to cut my hair,” he said. His sister, after seeking God’s direction, confirmed the same, to which he replied, “I know, because God already told me.”

The pastor also shared a powerful encounter with a woman who traveled all the way from Zimbabwe to attend his service. During their conversation, she recounted a vision she had experienced years earlier in 2016 while in New York. She described seeing a man with long hair, who was speaking to her and confronting the heavy burden she was carrying, symbolized by a dog on her shoulder. In the vision, the man wielded a sword that emitted thunder and lightning, destroying the dog and offering her healing and instructions.

The woman explained that after enduring significant hardship, including a painful divorce and the death of her mother, she turned to YouTube for spiritual guidance. She was astonished when a sermon by Pastor Jimmy appeared on her screen. “When I had this vision, I didn’t know you existed. The person I saw, I did not know it was a real person,” she said. “So when I saw the man from the vision with long hair, I screamed. I didn’t know any pastor would have long hair.”

What struck Pastor Jimmy the most was that at the time of the woman’s vision, he did not have dreadlocks. Reflecting on the significance, he said, “The God who sees, hears, and knows, knew at some point in February 2025, one of His children would have to see a man preaching. Guess what? If He did not ask me to keep my hair, I would have cut it. And when I popped up on the screen, she would have seen me with no hair and it would have meant nothing. God was making me keep my hair to save a life.”
