How Female Tenants Disguised as Neighbours Abducted Four Children in Delta

The Ogwashi Uku community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State has been thrown into turmoil following the reported abduction of four children by three unidentified women who recently moved into the area.

The suspects, believed to have secured emergency accommodation in Umuokwe quarters last Monday, allegedly lured the children away on Friday under the pretense of buying them biscuits from a local supermarket. The victims include six-year-old Ebube Nwafido and her three-year-old sister Miracle, as well as seven-year-old Chimanda and five-year-old Excel, also known as Tinubu. Ebube and Miracle are siblings, while the other two girls are from another family.

According to Mrs. Bose Nwafido, one of the women initially approached her seeking help in finding a place to rent. “They came to me last Monday asking for a house. I directed them, and shortly after, one returned saying she had a stomach upset from drinking Pepsi and zobo. She asked to use our toilet, and I showed her a spot behind our house,” she recounted.

Mrs. Nwafido explained that the women gained the trust of local children in the following days. One even took her 10-year-old son, Ifechukwude, to their apartment under the guise of showing him where they lived.

On Friday morning, Mrs. Nwafido left the children at home and instructed them to play within the compound. Around noon, some of the children mentioned that the women had offered to buy them biscuits. When the children failed to return, concerned neighbors checked the suspects’ room and discovered it was empty, with both the women and children missing.

The parents of the abducted children, Kingsley Nwafido and his wife, are said to be devastated by the incident.

Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the abduction and stated that an investigation is currently underway.
