In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Onuchukwu with the handle @chosensomto, narrated how late Jega supported Buhari in the 2015 election campaign with screenshots of tweets he made then with his handle @Bukharijega, in support of the president as evidence.
After winning the 2015 elections, Jega, according to the tweets he made, was optimistic that Buhari will solve many of the problems plaguing the nation and hence was still supportive of the president.
Unfortunately, things did not turn out as he had envisaged, he became a critic of the Buhari administration and eventually became a victim of the most serious of numerous Military extrajudicial killings under the Buhari administration.
Jega, his wife, kids and sisters according to Onuchukwu were among worshippers in a mosque on December 12, 2015 in Kaduna owned by the Ibraheem El Zakzaky-led Islamic Movement of Nigeria, popularly known as Shia sect.
The Nigerian military surrounded it and opened fire on all the occupants killing about 500 of them. The victims comprising of men, women and children were hurriedly buried in a secret mass grave in Kaduna.
Onuchukwu used Jega’s tragic experience to warn Nigerians against re-electing Buhari on Saturday citing the president’s poor human rights records as evidence but instead advised that Nigerians should vote for the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Atiku Abubakar.
